1. What “kind” of steel is it?
Cor-Ten, nickel-based steel.
2. What’s the gauge of the steel?
16 ga.
3. Is it entirely made of steel?
Except for the wood flooring, it’s all steel.
4. Why would I like steel over aluminum better?
Steel is more durable. Aluminum flexes in heat or cold and can pop rivets. We won’t guarantee an aluminum container is wind/water tight.
5. What’s the floor made of?
Marine, wood ship plank plywood, 1 1/4” thick.
6. How big is the biggest container?
53’
7. How small is the smallest?
Although some custom units can be 8’ to 10’, the standard is 20’.
8. What are the dimensions?
Standard dimensions are 8.5’ Tall x 8.0’ Wide. Longer units can be 9.5’ Tall and 8.5’ Wide.
9. What are the inside dimensions?
Depending on length, the usual inside dimensions on a 20’ for instance is 7’ 8 33/64” width, and a height of 7’ 10 11/64”
10. Do containers come with vents?
Four vents at all four corners.
11. Do you need to maintain a container?
A good check-up once a year to find any seams that may be splitting, cracks forming in the roof and a good oiling to keep the door hinges operable is all that’s needed.
12. Can a container be set down anywhere?
Yes, as long as the ground is level.
13. Is a container fireproof?
Remember that the floor is wood. If sparks get underneath, you could lose all that you’re trying to protect.
14. What permits and requirements do I need?
Please check with your individual city or county.
15. What colors can I get?
We can’t guarantee color because of the way the containers are stacked.
16. What do I need to be able to ship a container overseas?
Certification done by a surveyor.
17. How long do certifications last?
The majority last one year, but some as long as two.
18. What is a “One-Trip” container?
Containers that are newly manufactured are lightly loaded for one trip across the ocean. Just like a brand new car with 10 miles on it already, a one-tripper has one trip accomplished, but it’s still new.
19. What is the longevity of a container?
Well maintained, it could outlast the owner.
20. How is the container set on my property?
A specialized, tilt-bed truck delivers the unit, where the container rolls off as the bed rises.
21. If I pick it up, what do I need to get it off my truck?
Heavy duty forklifts, tractors, skids can all be used to off-load your container.
